Insulation Subsidy

An insulation subdsidy is available to upgrade the insulation in your home through the Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme if your house was built before 1 January 2000. Terra Lana insulation is an approved Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart product.

The Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart insulation subsidy can be used for:

Ceiling and underfloor insulation, up to a required standard. If you can access the space, you have to get both ceiling and underfloor insulation done to qualify for funding.
A clean, efficient heating device in the primary living space, if it does not already have a heating device that meets current standards. You are only eligible for funding towards a heater if you have proper insulation first - your service provider will be able to tell you if you qualify.
The following energy efficiency measures where necessary: a hot water cylinder wrap, pipe lagging, draught-stopping, and a ground moisture barrier.

The Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme provides funding to the levels outlined below.

Homeowners who hold Community Services Cards	60% of the total cost	$1200 (incl GST)
Landlords with tenants who hold Community Services Cards	60% of the total cost	$500 (incl GST)

In some areas local organisations offer an additional insulation subsidy by topping up the Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart subsidy or paying for other expenses such as administration costs and removal of old burners. So you are best to go through their schemes where available.

Important: You can only apply for a Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart insulation subsidy to install Terra Lana wool insulation if the insulation is installed by a government approved service provider.
