This means that over 1300 families are enjoying the benefits of natural wool insulation.

With our record of a high quality product and quality installation Environment Canterbury has once again awarded Terra Lana with the contract to continue installing wool insulation in Christchurch homes. This time we are not only installing supplementary but also full insulation.

Project Lyttelton

Terra Lana is providing financial assistance to homeowners insulating their homes in the Lyttelton area as part of Project Lyttelton.

Project Lyttelton is a community initiative aimed at developing a Sustainable Community. It is hoped that this project will be a model for use by other communities in New Zealand and potentially a showcase to the world.

Wool Carpet Underlay

Terra Lana have developed and are now exporting to the North American market a wool carpet underlay.

The rise and rise of green architecture and associated accreditation systems for residential and commercial buildings all over the world make this an exciting new export product from New Zealand.

Equally valid of course is the product application here in New Zealand where people are looking to satisfy their green home desire with a sustainable natural product under carpets.

Climate Change CO2 Emissions

When you insulate with Terra Lana you create a more temperate and healthier living environment. You also reduce energy consumption and roughly 1.2 tonnes of CO2 emissions are saved just by putting ceiling insulation into an average sized and run home.

Meridian Energy Pledge

As a result of last years national energy saving incentive Meridian Energy have honoured their pledge of $500,000 to Plunket Family centres.

Twenty one centres nationally have received various Energy saving measures including Terra Lana Woollen Insulation. Installations were carried out by Wellington based company Energy Smart Distributors.

Terra Lana Successful Tenderer

Environment Canterbury have been charged with cleaning up Christchurch city’s winter air pollution problem. A number of measures are being taken in the CLEAN HEAT project. A project they believe will take about 11 years to complete.
Environment Canterbury’s tender panel has realized the benefits of choosing a locally produced, environmentally secure product for one of the fourteen tender categories.

For the next two years Terra Lana Products Ltd will be supplying Supplementary Ceiling Insulation to the program participants.

If the inaugural years figures are anything to go by then in excess of 600 Christchurch Homes will be receiving the benefits of Terra Lana Wool insulation in the next 24 months.

Bring it on...

Integrity For New Zealand Wine Industry

The success of New Zealand’s wine industry is undoubtedly and unashamedly locked in to marketing and image.

Pure, natural and sustainable production practices are part of the new world wine story conveyed by New Zealand’s exporting winemakers. To protect and enhance this position vineyard developments tend to use building products that work well with the environment requiring less energy consumption from concrete for thermomass to natural wool insulation.

Craggy Range Winery the large $60,000,000 development in Hawkes Bay has recently had Terra Lana installed into the multi-million dollar Peabody and Winemaker residences. Designed by Blair and Company of Queenstown the installation was undertaken by Kiwi Wool.

Just down the road from Craggy Range, Kiwi Wool insulated the Black Barn Winery and Restaurant with Terra Lana which was the venue for a Dame Malvina Major performance last year.

Local Success

The Northlands Shopping Centre in Christchurch currently under development will be New Zealand’s largest enclosed shopping experience when completed. Over 8000m2 of Terra Lana insulation has been specified in to the project by architects Jasmax.

The product was supplied and installed by local roofing contractors Wayman Roofing.

The whole project was supplied in custom sizes ensuring a speedy installation and minimum wastage.

National Flavour

Architecture Warren and Mahoney, have embraced the Terra Lana culture with specifications of Chatterblock acoustic insulation into Environment Canterbury’s new offices and also Christchurch City Council owned The South Library. Both have Chatterblock 580 acoustic insulation as an integral part of their acoustic partitioning system.

Issues of sustainability and ecological bias were part of their brief.

Architecture Warren and Mahoney have recently included Chatterblock and Terra Lana carpet underlay in projects for The Waitakere City Council.
