Mulchmat : Wool Mulch Mat

Mulchmat is ideal for stabilising banks and consolidating soil on slopes  Wool mulch mat is perfect for establishment of trees, shrubs and groundcovers in landscape plantings  Mulchmat used at the Auckland busway

Wool Mulchmat is a fully biodegradable non-woven wool matting used in the establishment of trees, shrubs and groundcovers in landscape plantings. In the early stage of plant growth Wool Mulchmat prevents soil erosion, suppresses weeds, preserves soil moisture and insulates plants from temperature extremes thus ensuring swift and sure establishment. Over time Wool Mulchmat fully biodegrades, releasing plant nutrients which provide an additional boost for growing plants.

Terra Lana Mulch Mat is an agri textile made from pure wool and recycled wool waste. There is also a reinforced version which is strengthened with jute, a natural vegetable fibre (also known as hessian). This is ideal for stabilising banks and consolidating soil on slopes. Both versions are supplied in either rolls or mats pre-cut to the centre from one side to allow easy fitting around the base of trees and shrubs.

                             domestic sites.

Horticulture          Orchard tree/vine establishment and weed control mulch.
                              Strawberry mulch.

Benefits of Wool Mulch Mat

Fully Biodegradable    No unsightly partly degraded material to remove as with other synthetic weed mats.
Will not leave unhealthy residues. The rate of degradation is dependent on soil moisture
conditions. For example if the soil/mulch mat is continually wet it will degrade faster
rapidly. Mulchmat typically takes 18 months to 2 years to totally degrade.

Suppresses Weeds      Suppresses weed growth for first 8 - 12 months, resulting in lower gardening costs

Retains Water             Allows water movement through to the soil and reduces evaporation from the soil, thus gaining
maximum benefit from irrigation and rain.

Insulates                      The natural insulation properties of wool protect the soil against extremes in
temperature i.e. frosts.  In cold weather, wool absorbs moisture and in doing so
releases heat. This helps keep the soil at a more even temperature and assists in
                                     extending the growing season.

Provides Nutrients       Nutrients released include nitrogen, potassium, sulphur and other trace elements.

Easy to Apply                Simply roll out Mulchmat and fix firmly in place using pegs to ensure the matting
cannot be blown away. Alternatively it can be overlaid with bark chips.

Aesthetic Appeal           Muted natural colouring blends well with plants and surroundings.

Sustainable Materials   Wool is a natural renewable resource produced in abundance in New Zealand.

Mulchmat Whitianga Sports ComplexWe have just finished the landscaping on the bund for the Whitianga
Sports Complex and are really happy with the Terra Lana Mulchmat.
It made walking up and down the slope possible, it minimised erosion
and allowed us to carry on working no matter the weather conditions.
