GENERAL

This section relates to Terra Lana wool and polyester fibre blend thermal and acoustic insulation. Terra Lana is typically 50% price increase on comparative fibreglass insulation. Terra Lana is the only hygroscopic insulation commonly used in New Zealand with class leading breathability and durability.

SELECTIONS

4. INSULATION FLOORS

4.1 Timber Framed Floors: Insulate floor with Terra Lana R1.8 (100mm) OR, BETTER Terra Lana R2.6 (140mm) wool insulation fixed tightly between timber framing members to completely cover the whole floor area strictly in accordance with NZS 4246.

4.2 Sound Control Insulation – Mid Floor: Insulate STATE e.g. the whole area of First Floor with Terra Lana Chatterblock (90mm – R2.2) wool insulation fixed tightly between the floor joists to completely cover the whole floor area

5. INSULATION WALLS

5.1 Timber Framed Walls: Insulate SELECT e.g. all external timber framed walls, SELECT and internal walls between ROOM and ROOM, with SELECT Terra Lana R3.2 (140mm) wool insulation OR SELECT Terra Lana R2.4 (90mm) wool insulation CONTINUE fixed tightly between the timber framing members to completely cover the whole exterior wall surface of the building strictly in accordance with NZS 4246.

5.2 Strap and Lined Blockwork/Concrete Walls: Insulate DESCRIBE e.g. the whole interior face of all exterior blockwork walls and concrete walls with Terra Lana R1.2 (45mm) wool insulation strictly in accordance with NZS 4246.

6. INSULATION SOUND CONTROL

Sound Control Insulation – Wall: Insulate DESCRIBE e.g the whole area of all interior walls with Terra Lana Chatterblock (90mm – R2.2) wool insulation fixed tightly between framing members strictly in accordance with NZS 4246.

7. INSULATION ROOFS AND CEILINGS

7.1 Truss Roofs and Ceilings: Insulate all external timber framed roof and/or ceiling areas unless otherwise noted with SELECT Terra Lana R3.8 (105mm + 105mm) double layer wool insulation OR BETTER Terra Lana R5.2 (145mm + 145mm) double layer wool insulation OR FOR LOW ROOF PITCH Terra Lana R4.0 (180mm) wool insulation fixed tightly between framing members strictly in accordance with NZS 4246 and manufacturer’s installation instructions.

7.2 Skillion Roof: Insulate all skillion roof areas with SELECT Terra Lana R3.2 (140mm) wool insulation OR BETTER Terra Lana R4.0 (180mm) wool insulation fixed tightly between framing members to completely cover skillion roof area strictly in accordance with NZS 4246 and manufacturer’s installation instructions.
