TerraGuard® is a more effective and ecologically responsible system for protection of plantings, using biodegradable and re-usable components. It provides protection against pests such as rabbits, hares and pukekos, as well as from sprays, wind, drought and cold. Plants are more easily identified on overgrown sites, meaning less accidental damage and higher survival rates.
High density 1000 gsm matted wool at the base gives superior weed suppression and is 100% biodegradable—with no resins or glues. The wool effectively insulates tender roots in cold climates and absorbs and holds up to three times its weight in water. This helps retain ground moisture, thus increasing survival rates in isolated, non-irrigated sites.
A re-usable clip-lock option allows the guard to be removed from established plants and simply clipped back together again.
Higher density material makes the guard more durable for repeat plantings.
Re-using the guard reduces cost by 50% for subsequent plantings, which only require a new mat and bamboo poles. The enhanced weed suppression reduces maintenance costs.

WALL // Higher density baffled wall core flute is strong and lets through light, while providing protection from pests and spray drift and can be used multiple times. The guard is supplied flat for easy transport to site.
STAKE // Bamboo is the most cost effective stake type and our system requires only two.
MAT // The wool mat is highly effective at stopping weeds AND allowing rain water through. The matting is made form recycled wool and is surprisingly cost competitive with imported coir.
TERRAGUARD USES TERRAMULCH NATURAL WOOL FIBRE WEED MATTING
No unsightly partly degraded material to remove as with other synthetic mattings.
Will not leave unhealthy residues. The rate of degradation is dependent on soil moisture conditions. For example if the soil/TerraMulch is continually wet it will degrade faster. TerraMulch typically takes 18 months to 2 years to totally degrade.
Suppresses weed growth for first 8 - 12 months, resulting in lower gardening costs
Allows water movement through to the soil and reduces evaporation from the soil, thus gaining maximum benefit from irrigation and rain.
The natural insulation properties of wool protect the soil against extremes in temperature i.e. frosts.
Nutrients released include nitrogen, potassium, sulphur and other trace elements.
Muted natural colouring blends well with plants and surroundings.
