Wool TerraMulch (Formerly MulchMat) is a fully biodegradable non-woven wool matting used in the establishment of trees, shrubs and groundcovers in landscape plantings. In the early stage of plant growth. Wool TerraMulch prevents soil erosion, suppresses weeds, preserves soil moisture and insulates plants from temperature extremes thus ensuring swift and sure establishment. Over time Wool TerraMulch fully biodegrades, releasing plant nutrients which provide an additional boost for growing plants.
Terra Lana TerraMulch is an agri textile made from pure wool and recycled wool waste. There is also a reinforced version which is strengthened with jute, a natural vegetable fibre (also known as hessian). This is ideal for stabilising banks and consolidating soil on slopes. Both versions are supplied in either rolls or mats pre-cut to the centre from one side to allow easy fitting around the base of trees and shrubs.
TerraMulch is used for soil retention on the road edge.
TerraMulch is used around base of trees, shrubs
TerraMulch is fully biodegradable Wool
TerraMulch supports ground-cover growth in landscape plantings
TerraMulch protects young trees and shrubs
Bank planting around base of trees, shrubs and ground-covers, road edge, industrial and domestic sites.
Orchard tree/vine establishment and weed control mulch.
Re- establishment of N.Z. native plants.
No unsightly partly degraded material to remove as with other synthetic mattings.
Will not leave unhealthy residues. The rate of degradation is dependent on soil moisture conditions. For example if the soil/TerraMulch is continually wet it will degrade faster. TerraMulch typically takes 18 months to 2 years to totally degrade.
Suppresses weed growth for first 8 - 12 months, resulting in lower gardening costs
Allows water movement through to the soil and reduces evaporation from the soil, thus gaining maximum benefit from irrigation and rain.
The natural insulation properties of wool protect the soil against extremes in temperature i.e. frosts. In cold weather, wool absorbs moisture and in doing so releases heat. This helps keep the soil at a more even temperature and assists in extending the growing season.
Nutrients released include nitrogen, potassium, sulphur and other trace elements.
EASY TO APPLY
Simply roll out TerraMulch and fix firmly in place using pegs to ensure the matting cannot be blown away. Alternatively it can be overlaid with bark chips.
Muted natural colouring blends well with plants and surroundings.
Recycled wool is an abundant natural renewable resource.
TerraMulch Whitianga Sports Complex
We have just finished the landscaping on the bund for the Whitianga Sports Complex and are really happy with the Terra Lana TerraMulch.
"It made walking up and down the slope possible, it minimised erosion and allowed us to carry on working no matter the weather conditions."
