Eco Wool Insulation
Custom-made to suit your build, Eco Wool combines recycled wool fibres with PLA (Polylactic Acid) binding fibres – a plant-based binder that reduces reliance on petroleum-derived materials. You get the same trusted thermal and acoustic performance as our proven Terra Lana products
Description
Many wool insulation products use polyester binding fibres – Eco Wool takes a different path. It combines recycled wool fibres with PLA (Polylactic Acid) binding fibres derived from renewable plant-based resources, giving you the same trusted thermal and acoustic performance as our proven Terra Lana products. Developed for projects seeking to reduce reliance on petroleum-derived materials, Eco Wool delivers the moisture management and soft, non-irritating handling you expect across our range—with a renewable plant-based binder in place of standard polyester. It’s a strong fit for environmentally focused projects, Green Star and Homestar developments, and any build that prioritises renewable material content.
Key Features
PRODUCT STEWARDSHIP
We manage our environmental impact across the entire product life cycle—not just at the point of sale. Custom manufacturing lets us cut your insulation to fit, reducing waste and speeding up installation, while any offcuts go straight back into our production line through our product stewardship programme. That circular approach makes all Terra Lana products a sound fit for Green Star and Homestar-rated projects, where material sourcing and waste reduction count.
Superior performance
Many insulation materials hold a steady thermal rating but do little to manage moisture or sound. Wool does more. Across our full range, Terra Lana delivers excellent thermal performance, natural acoustic absorption, and moisture buffering that helps regulate indoor humidity—keeping your spaces warm, quiet and comfortable through the seasons. It’s a high-performance insulation that works on every front, not just one.
Sustainability
Most insulation relies heavily on petroleum-derived materials. Our range gives you ways to reduce that reliance. Terra Lana and Eco Fleece use wool with polyester binding fibres, while Eco Wool combines recycled wool with PLA (Polylactic Acid) binding fibres derived from renewable plant-based resources. Whether you choose recycled wool fibres, new New Zealand wool, or a plant-based binder, you can match your insulation to your sustainability objectives and material preferences.
Safe & Easy
Conventional insulation often means itchy fibres and mandatory protective gear. Terra Lana is different. Every product in our range is soft and non-irritating to handle, so it installs easily without the discomfort that comes with many synthetic alternatives. That makes for a more comfortable job on site for builders and installers—and a healthier finished space for the people who live and work in the building.
Eco Fleece Insulation
Eco Fleece is our most natural wool insulation offering, made from new New Zealand wool combined with polyester binding fibres. It delivers the reliable thermal comfort, acoustic absorption and moisture management you expect across the Terra Lana range—with a higher proportion of natural, locally sourced wool.
Description
Some buildings call for the highest possible share of natural, local materials. Eco Fleece answers that need. By using premium, new New Zealand wool fibres, it appeals to customers who want more natural wool content without sacrificing the performance and durability of our trusted Terra Lana products. Manufactured here in New Zealand to the same thermal specifications as the rest of our range, Eco Fleece delivers excellent thermal performance, natural acoustic absorption, and moisture buffering that helps regulate indoor humidity for a healthier, more comfortable space. It also handles like every product we make—soft and non-irritating, with no protective clothing required. For premium residential homes and natural building projects, Eco Fleece is the most natural choice in our range.
Made to order
We consider the environmental impact of our insulation at every stage of its life – and we work to keep materials out of landfill. Custom manufacturing lets us cut your insulation to fit, so you design out construction waste before it happens and cut on-site installation times. If you do end up with offcuts, they don’t need to be thrown away—our product stewardship programme recycles them directly back into our production line to make new insulation. That practical approach to circularity, made right here in New Zealand, makes Terra Lana a sound choice for Green Star and Homestar-rated projects where measurable waste reduction matters.
